Chuck Cannon

Marion Cletus Cannon, Jr. known as "Chuck" (born in [Greenville, South Carolina] ) is an American songwriter. His compositions include hit singles for [Toby Keith] , [John Michael Montgomery] , [Night Ranger] , and [Shawn Mullins] . Cannon has also received many honors from [Broadcast Music Incorporated] including multiple [Million-Air] awards for over 20 Million airplays, as well as the [Academy of Country Music] award for Song of the Year. Cannon's song, "If I Was Jesus" was nominated for the 7th Annual [Independent Music Awards] for Americana Song of the Year. He is the husband of singer [Lari White] .

Chuck Cannon was born and raised in [Greenville, South Carolina] , the son of a [Pentecostal] preacher. His early musical inspiration was a mix of gospel, R&B, and Rock & Roll. He began performing in church and by the time he was a teenager, he was playing local venues in Myrtle Beach, SC. He moved to [Nashville, Tennessee] in 1984, where he attended [Belmont University] . By 1988, he was signed to a songwriting contract by [Marshall Morgan] -- [Taste Auction Music] . In 1992 he founded his first publishing company, Wacissa River Music, Inc., whose first single "Me Too" was a multi-week, Billboard No. 1 hit for then fledgling artist, [Toby Keith] .
