Under the usual temperature and pressure conditions, the matter we see always appears as a gaseous, liquid, or solid form. Water is a prime example. It is liquid. At 0 ° C, it turns into solid – ice. At 100 ° C, the water changes into a gas – water vapor. Mutual conversion among them occurs at normal temperature and pressure.

Let’s take a look at the microscopic structure of the object. We can rely on the arrangement of the ancestral particles into the matter, such as atoms, molecules, and ions to distinguish the material’s three states. Matter particles that makeup solids are arranged in straight lines. Each grain in the top corner of the “grid” is a little “flickering.” This type of state is the most ordered state. If the solids temperature increases, the particles on the top corner of the “lattice”,after receiving energy from the outside, become more and more jagged and even begin to run away from the top corner. So the solid becomes a liquid with a relatively disordered arrangement. Also, as the liquid continues to heat up to a certain temperature, almost all particles turn into “comfortable free” particles. The original sorting order doesn’t exist anymore. So  the most disordered state comes, the gas state – the third state of matter.

Here nature can raise a problem: as we continue to heat the gas, will the gaseous body transform into a new state? The experiment shows that when the temperature reaches several thousand degrees Celsius or more, electrons in the atom will also escape the atomic nucleus binding and turn into free electrons. As for the atom, by losing electrons, it turns into a positively charged ion. That process is called ionization. The ionized gas is no longer the original gas. Although they are all electrically neutral, ionization results in an orderly level of the gas atom (although this is less ordered than solids and liquids), which are neutral ruin again. Besides, after ionization, the basic components of gas are electrons, ions, and neutral atoms. This state can not be attributed to the three states mentioned above, but rather the fourth state of the object matter. It is called plasma.

Normally, molecules and atoms in the gas are not only involved in haphazard thermal motion but in the gas of the plasma, electrons can also exhibit a kind of collective oscillation, especially when placed. Plasma gas in a magnetic field can influence this type of oscillation and be influenced by the magnetic field. Those are all the major differences between a plasma gas and a conventional gas.

Temperatures near the Earth are relatively low with no conditions for plasma production. But under certain conditions, plasma can also be produced on the Earth, such as when the summer thunderstorm occurs, which is a plasma gas produced after the oxidized ions emit a flash; The colorful street lights are also caused by plasma. More than 99.9% of the matter in the Universe is in a plasma state. The Sun is a hot plasma ball of fire. Therefore, plasma is the common form of material existence and humans are lucky enough to exist on the Earth with less than 0.1% of the plasma gas region.
